TRIVANDRUM: Sports Minister, V Abdurahiman made a scathing remark aimed at naysayers after many questioned the rise in tickets for the one-day international to be held in Karyavatoom. The minister pulled back no punches saying those criticizing are people who never watched in life a game from the stands.

While saying further, the minister made comments that didn’t sit well with many lovers of the game. “Those who are that impoverished and live a penury-stricken life need not come for the game. The government needs money and will get it no matter what”, said the minister.

He also said the money acquired from the ticket sales will be utilized in the sports sector of the state. He then pointed fingers at BCCI for taking away all the money collected during the last game held at Karyavattom. The India-Srilaka one-day international will take place on January 15th at greenfield stadium. Days before, the minister of food and civil supplies, G R Anil had inaugurated the ticket sales for the game. The upper tier tickets cost around Rs 1000, while the lower tier ranges around Rs 2000.
