KOLLAM: Hydrogen peroxide could not be found in the adulterated milk seized by the dairy development department at Aryankavu in Kollam. The traces of hydrogen peroxide were not found in the test conducted at the lab of the food safety department. The food safety department could only find the lack of fat in the milk. The tanker lorry carrying 15,300 liters of milk is in the police station for five days. The dairy development department seized the lorry carrying the milk brought to Kerala from Tamil Nadu.
The dairy development department conducted an inspection following a secret information obtained that adulterated milk are brought to Kerala from border states. The first reports that came mentioned the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The lorry driver said the milk was brought to agri soft dairy farm in Pandalam. Dairy development department Minister J Chinchu Rani had earlier expressed suspicion whether the presence of hydrogen peroxide in the milk could be found as the sample was collected late and tested.
The dairy development department seized the lorry from Tamil Nadu at Aryankavu check post early morning at 5.30. Initial testing revealed the presence of hydrogen peroxide in the milk. However, as they had no right to take action, the officials of the dairy development department informed the health department. However, the officials of the health department reached the spot after four hours. Only after that, the samples were collected and sent to the lab in Thiruvananthapuram.
