NEW DELHI: Iran on Thursday released five more Indians onboard an Israeli-linked cargo ship that was seized last month. The Indian Embassy in Iran said that these crew members are on their way to India. Efforts to secure the release of all the Indians on board are continuing at the diplomatic level.
On April 13, Iran had seized an Israeli-related cargo ship called MSC Aries in the Strait of Hormuz following the Israel-Iran conflict. 25 crew members including a Malayali woman were on board. Among them, 17 people are Indians, including four Malayalees. A Malayali named Anne Tessa Joseph was released earlier. However, uncertainty continued regarding the release of the rest of the crewmembers. In the meantime, some reports had claimed that Iran had freed all crewmembers of the ship. However, there was no confirmation in this regard.
