THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 236 properties of Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders and activists were confiscated to recover losses of Rs 5.20 crore caused during the lightning hartal of the Popular Front. The proceedings, which have been going on for two days, were completed at 5 pm on Saturday. The exact details of confiscated properties are not available.
Malappuram recorded the highest number of confiscations- 126. The properties of 43 people were confiscated in Tirur taluk alone. The properties of 23 people in Kozhikode, 16 in Palakkad, 15 in Thrissur and 14 in Wayanad were confiscated.
The reports on the completion of the proceedings will be soon handed over to the Home Department. The report should be submitted to the High Court on January 23. The auction of properties will take place as per court order.
Alappuzha
32.970 cents of five leaders were confiscated in Alappuzha. Two cents of former district secretary Shiraz, 4.47 cents of Palliparambil Riyas, 4.98 cents of Vandanam Nawaz, 11.88 cents of Mannancheri Nishad and 9.23 cents of Chengannur Naufal were confiscated.
Kasargod
1.93 acres of Cheemeni Sirajuddin and 6 acres of PFI Kasargod district president CT Sulaiman were confiscated.
Kannur
8 people faced action in Kannur. 25 cents of land of KV Naushad in Echoor, 12 cents of land and house of Naushad in Mavilayi, KV Naushad's two o and half cents and three-room shop in Kadambur, Rasiq's 10 cents in Taliparamba, 33 cents of Haroon in Thalassery, Sameer's 9.83 cents in Mokeri, Tahir's 92.34 cents in Kariyad, Semir's car in Peringalam were confiscated.
Kozhikode
23 properties of 14 people were confiscated.
Wayanad
14 people faced action. The properties of 12 persons were confiscated. The confiscation of the properties of two persons was not completed.
