PFI hitman ICAMA Sadiq arrested by Vattiyoorkavu police ahead of PM Modi's visit

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Popular Front leader Sadiq Basha aka ICAMA Sadiq, who was arrested by Vattiyoorkavu police on Sunday evening, will be soon handed over to NIA.

Sadiq confessed to police about arriving in the city to visit his wife. Sadiq said he took a taxi to reach his house but also admitted that he was unaware of how a police sticker landed on the car he was travelling. Sadiq is wanted by NIA and has many cases filed even in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

In June 2022, the NIA arrested Sadiq Basha, a native of Tamil Nadu, and his four associates in cases related to campaigning and raising funds for ISIS. There is also a case against him for trying to kill a police officer. Sadiq and his gang tried to kill the policeman during a vehicle inspection in Tamil Nadu. The NIA had found many pieces of evidence that linked Sadiq with ISIS.

Sadiq’s strange arrival in Thiruvananthapuram just a day before PM Modi’s scheduled visit to the capital city is viewed with suspicion by security officials.
