THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran MP on Saturday lashed out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for not inviting KC Venugopal MP for the inauguration of Alappuzha Medical College Super-Specialty Block. He said that the CM has shown his pettiness by not inviting Venugopal.
"Even former minister and CPM leader G Sudhakaran testified that KC Venugopal MP's efforts during the UPA government resulted in allotting Rs 120 crores for the construction of the super speciality block by including it in the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). It is true that KC Venugopal initiated all the interventions and coordination for the implementation of the project. However, when the project was completed and the hospital was inaugurated, Venugopal was not invited because of the narrow-mindedness of the Chief Minister and the Health Minister. The local CPI(M) legislator H. Salam made it clear that it's Pinarayi Vijayan who decides who should be called for the inauguration. The government's action of insulting KC Venugopal, who made constant interventions to solve the deficiencies in the health sector of Alappuzha district, is objectionable," Sudhakaran said.
