Youths attack parents of three-year-old boy over misunderstanding

KOTTAYAM: The youths, who attacked the parents of a three-year-old boy for allegedly teasing them, have been arrested. The incident happened at 11 pm last night near the private bus stand of Mundakayam in Kottayam. Shahul Rasheed, K R Rajeev, natives of Mundakayam and Ananthu P Shashi of Koruthodu are those arrested.

The attack was following a misunderstanding. The baby, who was on his mother’s shoulder, called his father loudly and the youths misunderstood this and thought he teased them. A verbal spat broke out between the woman and the youths and in fit of rage, they beat her on her head with a helmet. The kid’s father who came to prevent the attack was injured with a stone. The police reached the spot after informed by the locals and arrested them.

Police said one of the arrested is an accused in a POCSO case. There are cases against the other youths for possessing drugs. The accused will be produced in the court today.
