Do not put children under pressure; Prime Minister to parents

modi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that parents should not put their children under pressure in the name of exam marks. He was talking to schoolchildren and parents at the Talkatora Stadium during his annual 'Pariksha Pe Charcha'. The Prime Minister's program is being held for the sixth consecutive year to instil confidence in children during exams.

"It is natural for families to have expectations of students. It should not be for the prestige in front of society. Do not put the burden of expectations on children. They should be allowed to travel after the exams. After 12th class exams, students should be encouraged to go outside the state. They should be encouraged to go through new experiences. The stress during exams should be minimized. If children pay attention, they can relieve the pressure of expectations. One should self-evaluate one's skills. One should analyse stresses. One should check whether one is doing justice to one's abilities. Then one will be able to perform well. Time management is very important whether during exam time or not. A student should choose a difficult topic to study when he is most spirited. Students should monitor the time management capacity of working mothers. Students should remember that although they may pass some exams through crooked ways, they cannot become successful in life through such ways. Shortcuts can lead one to danger," he said.
