NEDUMBASSERY: Air India Express flight IX 412 from Sharjah to Kochi made an emergency landing at Kochi International Airport due to malfunction in the hydraulic system. The incident happened at 8.26 pm on Sunday.
There were 193 passengers and six crew on board. The technical glitch was noticed by the pilot only minutes before landing at Nedumbassery. With this, permission was sought for an emergency landing. A state of emergency was declared at the airport at 8.04 pm. Fire force and ambulances were prepared to deal with any situation. A message was also sent to private hospitals in Aluva and Angamaly.
The plane landed safely. At 8.36 pm, the emergency was lifted and the airport's operations returned to normal.
