KOCHI: Former Indian cricketer Sreesanth has been banned for three years in the controversy over Sanju Samson's omission from the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended Sreesanth for three years. He has been banned for allegedly making false and defamatory statements against the association. Sanju Samson was dropped from the Kerala team ahead of the Champions Trophy. Sreesanth speaking in support of Sanju turned into an issue.
The KCA special general body meeting held on April 30 decided to take legal action against Sanju's father Vishwanath Samson, Reggie Lucas and the channel's anchor for their baseless allegations in Sanju Samson issue. Sreesanth is the co-owner of Kollam Aries, a franchise in the Kerala Cricket League run by the Kerala Cricket Association. The KCA had sent notices to Sreesanth, franchises Alleppey Ripples, Kollam Aries, and Alleppey team lead conductor Sai Krishnan in the controversy. The teams' replies were satisfactory. The meeting also decided to suggest that caution be exercised while selecting members in the management.
