TEL AVIV: With the war in Gaza, the West fears that the conflict between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah group could turn into an all-out war. The situation was worsened by rocket attacks on the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Saturday.

12 children and teenagers died in the attack on a football ground. 13 people were injured. The Golan Heights were captured by Israel from Syria in the 1967 war. More than 40,000 people live here.

Israel and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken responded by blaming Hezbollah for the attack. Hezbollah and Lebanon objected. In retaliation, Israel's air force bombed seven Hezbollah bases in Lebanon early yesterday morning.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Hezbollah will pay a heavy price. Iran has also warned Israel that there will be consequences if it attacks Lebanon. Iran also supports Hezbollah. The attack in the Golan came hours after an Israeli attack on a school in central Gaza where refugees were staying. 30 people were killed in the attack. Four people were killed in an Israeli attack on the Lebanese border. The Hezbollah-Israel conflict has so far killed more than 450 people in Lebanon and 40 in Israel.

Iran rocket

Israel said the rocket was fired from the village of Cheba in southern Lebanon. Iran's Falak-1 rocket was used. Hezbollah fired the same rocket at a military base in northern Israel on Saturday.
