Playtime turns to tragedy: 10-year-old Abhinav passes away in accident involving home swing

CHITTOOR: A sense of profound grief has settled over South Street following the tragic death of 10-year-old Abhinav, who passed away yesterday morning after a freak accident involving a home swing.

The accident occurred around 10:30 am while Abhinav, a fourth-grade student at St. Francis School in Kozhinjampara, was playing on a swing inside his home. At the time, his parents, Karuppu Swamy and Priya, were away to secure a "Plus Two" admission for Abhinav’s sister, Abhinaya.
Abhinav was under the care of his elderly grandmother when the rope of the swing accidentally became entangled around his neck.

The situation was discovered quickly, and local neighbours rushed to the scene to assist. Abhinav was first hurried to a private hospital in Nattukal before being transferred to the Palakkad Government District Hospital. Despite the rapid efforts of medical staff and community members, the boy could not be saved.

The Chittoor police have since conducted an official inquest into the accident. Following a postmortem examination at the district hospital, Abhinav's body was returned to his grieving family. He was laid to rest earlier yesterday.
