'Aaram Thampuran' is one of the all-time blockbuster Malayalam films featuring the iconic on-screen pairing of Mohanlal and Manju Warrier. Directed by Shaji Kailas, the movie was released in 1997. Even after 28 years, it remains one of the most beloved Mohanlal films among Malayalis. The film was a massive box office success as well.
The songs of the film, composed by the legendary Raveendran, were also major hits. Besides Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, the movie featured a star-studded cast, including Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kalabhavan Mani, Bheeman Raghu, Keerikkadan Jose, Sai Kumar, Cochin Haneefa, Jagannatha Varma, Ganesh Kumar, Kundara Johny, Innocent, Augustine, and T.P. Madhavan.
Narendra Prasad, who portrayed the villain, received widespread praise for his performance. A recently revealed fact is that beloved actress Urvashi also appeared in Aaram Thampuran. Her brief appearance in the film went unnoticed by the audience and was known only to the crew working behind the scenes.
In a recent interview, when asked by the host, Urvashi herself confirmed that she was indeed part of the film. She appears in a sequence of the superhit song 'Harimuraleeravam…', but her face was covered, with only her eyes visible, which is why no one recognised her. Urvashi also revealed that the scene was not originally shot for Aaram Thampuran, but was footage from another film she acted in, which was later incorporated into the song sequence.
