CHENNAI: A 54-year-old man who tried his luck by regularly buying lotteries, including online lottery and Kerala lottery, for big money has committed suicide. Radhakrishnan, who lives in Mullai Nagar, Erode, has been spending lakhs of rupees for the past few months. Radhakrishnan lost about Rs 62 lakh in this way. He committed suicide after sending a message on WhatsApp that he had incurred a huge liability by burying lotteries. He works as a commission agent for yarn and has a wife and two children.
In Tamil Nadu, a state where lotteries are banned, some people sell lotteries illegally by bringing it from Kerala. In Erode district alone, police have registered cases against 215 people in a year in connection with lottery sales.
