Couple held for brutally beating woman on two-wheeler for not giving space to overtake

PUNE: An elderly man and his wife have been arrested for brutally thrashing a woman riding a scooter in Pune. The woman identified as Jerlyn D'Silva riding a scooter with her two kids were thrashed brutally. The police arrested the accused identified as Swapnil Kekre and his wife the other day.

It is reported that the woman was attacked because he was angry for not giving space to overtake. Kekre pulled the girl's hair and punched her on the nose. With this, her nose was bleeding profusely. The information came to light after the woman, a digital content creator, shared a video of the incident on social media.

‘She was riding a scooter with her two children. The accused was speeding behind her for nearly two kilometers. Moved the scooter to the left. He then overtook her and stopped the car in front of her scooter. In a fit of rage, Swapnil got off the car and hit her twice. Pulled my hair. He did not give any consideration to the children. Is this city safe? How cruelly are people behaving. I was bleeding from my nose and mouth. Another woman who saw this helped me,' said Jerlyn.

Jerlyn’s relative also responded to the media about the incident. 'He attacked her for no reason. His wife did not try to stop the attack. Her children did not sustain any injuries, but they were screaming out of fear,' he said.
