HYDERABAD: A 31-year-old woman died of food poisoning after eating momos from a roadside stall in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills. 15 other people who ate momos from the same shop on different days also showed signs of food poisoning. They have been admitted to various hospitals in Hyderabad.
The police confirmed that the woman identified as Reshma Begum had eaten momos from the roadside stall run by a vendor from Chintal Basti, Khairatabad. Six youths from Bihar started the stall here three months ago. It is reported that they have been arrested by the police. The woman’s relative said that she felt unwell within hours of eating the momos. She was later admitted to the hospital. Her relative said the death occurred while she was undergoing treatment and a complaint has been filed with the police.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has started an investigation into the incident. Strict instructions were given to the food safety officials and the police to immediately close the food stalls operating in the area without licence. The police also told the media that samples of the food prepared at Delhi Momos have been sent for detailed examination.
