KOZHIKODE: Senior Nursing Officer PB Anitha, who was transferred for supporting the victim of the ICU abuse case, has been reappointed to Kozhikode Medical College. A government order has been issued in this regard.
The government's action of not appointing Anitha despite the High Court's directive was controversial. Anitha's strike protesting the non-appointment and the victim coming out in support of her had gained attention. Following this, the government directed the DME to appoint Anitha. The High Court is hearing Anitha's contempt plea on Monday. Anitha said that she will end the strike and is not fully satisfied with the government's action
Earlier, Minister Veena George had stated that Anitha's re-appointment was based on the final judgment of the court. She will be posted in Kozhikode until the final decision of the court. The file related to Anitha's appointment reached the health department today only. The minister said that the government has officially taken a decision on this. The minister also stated that the DMA review petition has been filed in the court to convince the court including some technical matters.
On March 18, 2023, the woman who had undergone thyroid surgery was molested by the attendant Saseendran. The victim complained that five employees threatened her to withdraw the complaint. Anitha reported these five people. They were suspended. Anitha was also threatened by the NGO union leader following which she was transferred. However, the recommendation of the inquiry report to take action against the superintendent and chief nursing officer was not implemented.
