KOCHI: The Kerala High Court asked what action has been taken in the Hindu MLA remarks of advocate B Gopalakrishnan, the NDA candidate from Guruvayur constituency and BJP state vice president. The court also asked why the model code of conduct was in place. The election commission informed the court that action has been initiated and the video of the speech has been removed. KSU district president Gokul filed a plea in the high court in this regard.
Gopalakrishnan’s remarks was that there has not been a Hindu MLA in the Guruvayur constituency for the last 25 years. Such a hate speech is a violation of the election code of conduct. The plea also requested that the matter be brought to the attention of the election commission. Gokul had earlier filed a complaint with the election commission. The commission informed the court that it has been directed to investigate the matter within two months and take necessary action.
Gopalakrishnan's claim was that a Hindu MLA should come where there are 48 percent Hindus in the constituency. The controversial speech was made during the inauguration of the election committee office in Guruvayur. Other fronts came forward against the speech. Many filed complaints with the election commission. With this, the BJP had prepared a dummy candidate, suspecting that Gopalakrishnan would be disqualified.
