THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “ Alayaal Tharavenam, Aduthorambalam venam”, the epic poem has been subjected to a variety of renditions over the years. Only rarely that some special rendition get a place in people's hearts and it happened just weeks back through 4-year-old Vedhuttan, who has now taken over social media by storm.
On Tuesday, it took no time for Vedhuttan to be the centre of attention at the 'Chaitra Nilav' program organized by Kerala Kaumudi and Kaumudi TV to honour legendary singer K S Chithra. ‘Alayal Thara venam’ is Vedhu’s favorite song. He took the opportunity to rhyme the lines while being held close by his mother.
'You are a smart boy. Be a great singer" Singer K S Chithra blessed him when the two met on satge.
It all started when Vedhu rendered the same song during his grandfather's 70th birthday celebration which went viral. He sang oblivious to the surroundings with a mike in his hand wearing tiny green trousers. A relative who attended the ceremony filmed it on his mobile phone and posted it on Facebook. Vedhuttan's real name is Jadved Krishnan. He learned the song from his grandmother. He also takes time to listen to the same song from YouTube. 'Chethimandaram Tulsi' and the lullaby 'Omanathingal Kidavo' are among Vedhu’s favourite songs.
Vedhu turned a star in Playschool after his video went viral. The school authorities felicitated him with a trophy. He is the son of Vysakh Krishna, a native of Thrissur Puthukad and Mridula, a native of Wandoor, Malappuram.
When he was one year old, he started having shortness of breath. Neurological disease was confirmed on examination. The doctors ruled that speech therapy would be needed. But he overcame the disease through singing.
