THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM has initiated discussions regarding potential candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the aim of reclaiming lost seats. The party plans to contest on 15 seats in total.

Following a meeting of the CPM state secretariat, district committees have been instructed to submit their candidate suggestions within two days. Subsequently, both District Committees and Parliamentary Constituency Committees are scheduled to convene over the next two days to deliberate on the matter.

Key considerations for candidacy include popular appeal, with familiar faces being given priority. Among the notable contenders are V Joy, the District Secretary and Varkala MLA, who is being considered for the Attingal constituency. Additionally, Kadakampally Surendran is being weighed as a potential candidate.

In various constituencies across Kerala, prominent figures such as Thomas Isaac, C Ravindranath, K Radhakrishnan and Dr PK Jamila are under consideration for candidacy.

Furthermore, discussions revolve around the candidacy of KT Jaleel in Ponnani, Elamaram Karim in Kozhikode and A Vijayaraghavan in Palakkad. In Kannur, the spotlight is on KK Shailaja, although there is a strong demand for her candidacy in Vadakara to secure the seat from the UDF.

The final decision regarding candidates will be made by the state committee on the 27th of this month.
