Detailed guidelines for reopening of schools by Oct 4; meetings to begin tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Detailed guidelines for the reopening of schools in the state will be prepared before October 4. Important meetings of the principal secretaries of the department of education and the department of health will begin tomorrow. The guidelines will be finalized after discussions with the ministers and officials of the concerned departments.

The guidelines should be clear on a number of issues including bringing children to schools and seating arrangements in the classroom. The opinion of health experts and the results of the Zero Survey are crucial.

In addition to the education and health departments, the chief minister has also directed the state police chief to prepare a special plan to ensure the safety of students. In all schools, one teacher will be the school safety officer.
