Gangsters go on rampage in Thrissur; five policemen injured, three jeeps vandalized; all because of birthday party

THRISSUR: A gang of goons attacked the police who had come to control the riot during the birthday celebration of a youth belonging to a quotation gang. Five policemen were injured. Three police jeeps were damaged by the gang. The police bravely overpowered and arrested six thugs. The goons' attack began at 2.30 am yesterday in Nellankara near Thrissur city. The attack continued for two hours. The search for nine gangsters is ongoing.

The gang of thugs gathered for the birthday party of Kattuparambil Al Ahadil, a member of the gang. More than 15 people came to celebrate in an empty house near his house and its surroundings. Grade SI Jayan and civil police officers Shyam Kumar, Aju, Shiju and Shanoj were injured. SI Jayan and Aju's injuries are serious. They are undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital.

The Mannuthi police arrested Kattuparambil Al Ahadil (18) and Kattuparambil Muhammed Al Altaf (34) both natives of Ollukara, Nellikunnu Puthur Evin Antony (24), Moorkanikkara Brahmajith (22), Nellikunnu Ashmir Antony (24), and Chembukkavu Sharbal (19). They were also injured during the clashes. After providing primary treatment, the accused were produced in court in the evening and remanded. Brahmajith, who is accused in several criminal cases including murder, has fractured his arm. The gang was under various kinds of intoxication including alcohol.
