Actor Devan has said that there have been many threats against him contesting the elections in the Malayalam film stars' organization AMMA. He said that he does not know how the news that he is withdrawing his nomination came. Devan said that he is trying to make AMMA like it used to be. He shared these things while talking to the media regarding the AMMA elections.
"Mohanlal is emotionally attached to AMMA. That's why everyone expected Mohanlal not to leave the organisation. I waited until the end to see if Mohanlal would give his nomination. That's when I realised I had a responsibility. I felt that the organisation we started should not go astray. That's how I decided to contest.
For the past few days, AMMA members have been arguing with each other. This is affecting the organisation called AMMA. AMMA is a very misunderstood organisation. There are many people waiting to receive help from the organisation. I am contesting so that AMMA does not collapse. There were reports that I may withdraw from the contest. I do not know how this news happened. I have decided to contest. The lives of those who are suffering should be valued. That is why I am contesting.
My colleagues say that I am the only actor who has never made a mistake. Many directors have said that I am an actor who calls Mammootty Mammootty. In a meeting, I strongly said that Mammootty's wrong opinion should be corrected. Even a strong actor like Dileep was expelled by AMMA. We took the decision at Mammootty's house.
If Jagadish withdraws and Shweta Menon takes over the position, it will be a shame for her. It will be a shame for women. I am a person who advocates for women's equality. Some people said that if I talk to the media, my nomination will be removed. If that happens, I will go to court," Devan said.
