THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has issued an order revising the pay scale of Assistant Insurance Medical Officers (Allopathy) in the Insurance Medical Services Department. According to the order, doctors will be granted time-bound higher grades after completing 8 years and 15 years of service.

The benefits that were available under the 10th Pay Revision had not been included in the 11th Pay Revision order. Doctors had been demanding that these benefits be restored. The government decided to extend the benefits because the qualifications and nature of work of doctors in the Insurance Medical Services Department are similar to those of doctors holding equivalent posts in the Health Department.

New pay scale
Doctors who complete 8 years of service will receive the first higher grade with a pay scale of Rs 95,600 - Rs 1,53,200. Those who complete 15 years of service will receive the second higher grade with a pay scale of Rs 1,18,100 - Rs 1,63,400.
