THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-day history Congress organized by KPCC as part of the Vaikom Satyagraha Centenary celebrations will be held at Kowdiar Uday Palace Convention Center today at 10.30 a.m.
Congress Working Committee member and All India Congress Committee SC, ST, OBC and Minorities Department National Coordinator K Raju will inaugurate the event. KPCC President K Sudhakaran MP will preside.
Opposition leader VD Satheesan will deliver the keynote address. Noted writer P Athiyaman and Sukumaran Moolakkadu will be the chief guests. Congress working committee member Kodikunnil Suresh, UDF convener MM Hassan, K Muralidharan MP, VM Sudheeran, Adoor Prakash MP, N Sakthan, DCC president Palode Ravi and others will attend the function.
In the afternoon at 2.30 pm a seminar on 'Vaikkam Satyagraha and Social Reform' will be attended by T Muhammadali, Karthikeyan Nair, J Raghu, J Devika and Nedumkunnam Gopalakrishnan. Art programs at 5 pm. Dr Shashi Tharoor MP will inaugurate an open forum on the topic of Kerala Renaissance at 6.45. Sunny Kapicadu and CP John will participate.
Dr. Gopal Guru, former editor of Economic and Political Weekly, will inaugurate the international seminar tomorrow at 10 am. Dr Shashi Tharoor will deliver the keynote address.
Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the family meeting of the descendants of Vaikom Satyagraha fighters at 2.30 pm. Swami Satchidananda, President of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust will be the chief guest. KPCC General Secretary TU Radhakrishnan, Prof. Anchayil Raghu and others will speak.
AICC General Secretary Tariq Anwar will inaugurate the concluding session. Secretaries PC Vishnunath, Roji M John, Jebi Mather, VT Balram and others will participate. Vaikom Satyagraha Centenary Celebration Committee Chairman VP Sajeendran and Convener M Liju informed that over a thousand delegates will participate in the function.
