V D Satheesan puts forward a new formula, either home or finance 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the cabinet discussions are progressing, Chief Minister-designate V D Satheesan has put forward a new formula. Satheesan is of the stand that if Ramesh Chennithala is given the home department, then he should get finance.

Though Chennithala is dissatisfied, he is willing to join the cabinet if offered the home department. Satheesan proposed the new formula when Chennithala continues to be adamant on the home department. Satheesan is reported to have taken the stand that if he is not given home, then should get finance and there will be no compromise on it.
Satheesan is not completely satisfied in giving up the home department. However, as Chennithala continues to be displeased over not getting the chief minister's post, he has to give it to Satheesan. He has demanded the finance department at this stage.

Usually, the chief minister handles the home department. A different example is when Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was given the home department as part of controlling V S Achuthanandan when he became the chief minister. Later, Oommen Chandy gave up the home department when a vigilance investigation was initiated against him. It was first given to Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and then to Chennithala.
