THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: New salary mentioned in the KSRTC pay revision package is Rs 11,270 to Rs 52,940 more than the salary in 2011. However, trade unions have pointed out that there will be no adequate hike when the ten-year increment is calculated. They are demanding a pay hike similar to that of government employees.
The minimum salary will be Rs 20,000 and the maximum salary for a supervisor will be Rs 90,000. An additional amount of Rs 13 crore will be required per month.
The new scale will come into force if the trade unions approve this package and the others including Swift Company. The opposition towards the Swift company has eased. Discussions were held between the management and the organizations on Saturday but no decision was reached. The meeting will be reconvened on Wednesday in the presence of Minister Antony Raju.
For the last one and a half years, salaries and pensions have been paid at the expense of the government. The Finance Department is of the view that the financial assistance will continue only if the unions co-operate with the reform proposals in the Sushil Khanna package. The revenue of KSRTC was greatly affected by the Covid crisis.
