ALAPPUZHA: Avani of Kommadi, Alappuzha and V.M. Sharon of Thumboli Valappil got married on Sunday morning at the Thumboli Pattukulam temple. Sharon adorned Avani with a garland, and a ring exchange was held. Upholding tradition, Sharon applied vermillion on Avani’s forehead, representing auspiciousness.
The couple's wedding was scheduled for November 21, 2025, in Thumboli. On the day of the wedding, at around 3 am, while Avani was off to Kumarakom with her family members for makeup, the car she was travelling in met with an accident. Although taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital, Avani was later shifted to Ernakulam for advanced treatment as her spinal injury was serious.
The hospital authorities were informed of the decision made by both families to conduct the marriage modestly at the scheduled time. Sharon then tied the sacred necklace around Avani’s neck in the hospital's emergency department. Therefore, the wedding thali was avoided in the ceremony held on Sunday. Sharon remained with Avani for two months of treatment. The wedding ceremony was held in front of the temple after Avani completed the treatments, including physiotherapy.
Avani's parents, Jagadish and Jyothi, Sharon's parents, Manumon and Rashmi, family members and close friends attended the ceremony. Avani then entered Sharon's house at around 11.30. Avani is a teacher at Bishop Moore School, Cherthala. Sharon is an assistant professor at KVM College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cherthala.
