Minor girl giving birth in orphanage, decision taken to relocate inmates

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Child Welfare Committee has taken action after a minor inmate became pregnant at an orphanage in Adoor. The Child Welfare Committee has decided to relocate the girl inmates from there. The recognition of the orphanage may also be cancelled.

The police have registered a POCSO case after a minor girl in the orphanage gave birth. One of the administrators of the orphanage had married this inmate. The complaint was filed after she had a baby. The Child Welfare Committee found that she became pregnant before becoming major.


The girl got married on October 23, 2024. She gave birth on June 2. The POCSO case was registered based on the committee's report. After examining the report, the police recorded the statement of the doctor at the private hospital who treated her. The case was registered based on this.
