THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty has said that special classes will be held for students who do not get minimum marks in 8th class. The 8th class examination results based on minimum marks were published yesterday. The minister informed the press conference that the figures are available from 2241 schools so far.

Wayanad district has the most failures. Kollam has the least. More children failed in the Hindi subject and least in English. The minimum mark for each subject is 30 per percent. Those who oppose the minimum mark should understand the situation of the children. The figures of minimum marks will be checked and compared on a district-level basis. The number of children failing in only one subject will be checked. The details of students who did not get qualifying marks in the written examination will be given to the parents. It has been decided to provide special classes to the select students from April 8 to 24.

Students will only have to attend classes for the subjects in which they have not secured the necessary marks. The special class will be from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. It has also been decided to conduct re-examinations from April 25 to 28. The re-examination results will be published on April 30. The minister also stated in a press conference that minimum marks will be implemented for class 7 next year.
