THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Center accepted the recommendation of the State Government to rechristen Nemom and Kochuveli railway stations in Thiruvananthapuram. Nemom will henceforth be known as Thiruvananthapuram South and Kochuveli as Thiruvananthapuram North.

The state government's recommendation to the central government in 2023 has now been accepted. Kerala received the Centre's letter informing about the decision on July 26. With this, in addition to Thiruvananthapuram Central, there will be two more major railway stations in Thiruvananthapuram. The new budget announced a multi-crore project for the development of Nemom and Kochuveli railway stations. The work has already begun.
