THRISSUR: Panic has intensified in Kodaly Mattathur after yet another Common krait was discovered today in the same house where two siblings were recently bitten. This marks the third venomous snake found on the premises in a matter of days. The snake, similar in size to the one involved in the initial incident, was found in the children's bedroom and was immediately killed by local residents.
The discovery occurred while forest department officials were active in the area, attempting to clear the surrounding vegetation and using controlled fires to drive reptiles away from the residential zone. This recurring threat has left the neighbourhood in a state of shock, especially as the latest snake was found in the exact room where ten-year-old Anoj and his younger brother were attacked while they slept.
Reports indicate that the children were bitten directly from their pillow at approximately 2:00 am a few days ago. While the family initially mistook the symptoms for food poisoning, the gravity of the situation was only realised hours later when the children's condition worsened. Following the first attack, a krait was found under a pillow, and another was spotted shortly thereafter. Today’s discovery of a third krait confirms fears that the property remains highly vulnerable, leading to urgent demands for more thorough safety measures by the authorities.
