KALAMASSERY: Former MLA P V Anvar has left the Trinamool Congress. He has also resigned from the post of state convener of the party’s Kerala unit. The announcement was made at a press conference after a state committee meeting held in Kalamassery.
Anvar said that all ties with the party’s national leadership have been severed. He added that the decision was taken unanimously by the meeting, considering the current political situation at the national level. He also announced that he will form a new state party, based on secular and democratic values, by May 15. According to him, the party will have an ideological approach that aligns with Congress politics at the national level.
"Despite working for one and a half years, I did not receive any help from the national leadership of the Trinamool Congress. No national leader was sent for campaigning in the Beypore constituency, and even the party symbol was not allotted. The stand taken by Mamata Banerjee that Trinamool leaders cannot share the stage with Congress leaders affected the party’s activities in Kerala," Anvar said.
