
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of the Attukal Pongala festival, the railways announced special passenger trains from Ernakulam and Nagercoil to Thiruvananthapuram. There will be special train services to Ernakulam via Alappuzha and to Nagercoil on the evening of Pongala day.
Nagercoil - Thiruvananthapuram Passenger Special will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 8.55 pm on March 2 and reach Nagercoil at 11 pm. Then on March 3, the train will depart from Nagercoil at 1.20 am and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 3.30 am. The train will have stops at Balaramapuram, Neyyattinkkara, Dhanuvachapuram, Parassala, Kuzhithurai, Palliyadadi, Eraneil, Mananailur and Nagercoil Town.
The Pongala Special Passenger Train from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram will depart from Ernakulam at 1.20 am on March 3 and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 6.30 am. It will have stops at Tripunithura, Mulanthuruthi, Piravom, Vaikom, Ettumanoor, Kumaranallur, Kottayam, Changanassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Cheriyanad, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam, Ochira, Karunagappally, Sasthamkotta, Munrothuruthu, Perinad, Kollam, Mayyanad, Paravur, Varkala, Kadakkavoor, Chirayinkeezhu, Murukkumpuzha, Kaniyapuram, Kazhakoottam and Pettah.
The Ernakulam Pongala Special Passenger via Alappuzha, which will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 2.40 pm on March 3, will reach Ernakulam at 7.10 pm.
In addition, the Kannur - Thiruvananthapuram Jana Shatabdi and Mangalore - Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat will stop at Pettah on March 3.
Trains departing after Pongala on March 3
The Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin train will depart at 2.30 pm.
The passenger train from Kochuveli to Nagercoil will depart at 2.40 pm.
The MEMU from Kollam to Kanyakumari will depart at 12.50 pm instead of 11.35 pm from Kollam. This MEMU will depart from Thiruvananthapuram for Kanyakumari at 3.20 pm, one and a half hours late.
The Nagercoil-Kottayam express will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.20 pm, three and a half hours late.
