KOLLAM: Relatives said the body of Athulya of Chavara, who committed suicide in Sharjah, will be brought home on Thursday. Athulya's father Rajasekharan Pillai told media that the delay in bringing the body home is due to the procedures related to the case. She was found hanging at her flat in Sharjah on July 19. The forensic report on the cause of death has not yet been received. The relatives hope to receive this report tomorrow.
The authorities have informed that the marks found on Athulya's body will be subjected to a detailed examination. Athulya's sister Akhila has filed a complaint with the Sharjah police alleging murder. She had handed over evidence and a video of her husband Satheesh Shankar harassing her continuously, to the police. Relatives said she died due to domestic harassment. The police have registered a case against her husband under charges of murder, domestic violence and dowry harassment. He was dismissed from his job based on the complaint filed by her relatives and the behavior of Athulya's husband Satheesh seen in the videos. Satheesh was working as a site engineer in a private company in Dubai.
The police are trying to bring the accused back home. There are indications that the investigation will be handed over to the crime branch. A special police team is investigating Athulya's death. The investigation is being led by Chavara SHO S Sreekumar.
