Red alert! Holiday declared for educational institutions in eight Kerala districts including Ernakulam on Monday

KASARAGOD: Authorities declared a holiday for educational institutions including tuition centres, Anganwadis, and Madrasas in eight Kerala districts including Ernakulam on Monday amidst extreme rainfall warnings. The holidays will be applicable for districts including Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Ernakulam.

Kasaragod District Collector K. Inbasekhar and Kannur District Collector Arun K. Vijayan declared the holidays first, while other collectors from respective districts followed suit. There will be no change in the exams scheduled in these districts.

District Collector S. Prem Krishnan announced that all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in the Pathanamthitta district will be closed tomorrow. The holiday will also apply to Anganwadis, tuition centres, etc.


In the wake of the announcement of a red alert in the Idukki district tomorrow, District Collector V. Vigneshwari declared a holiday for all educational institutions including Anganwadis and professional colleges. The holiday will not be applicable to residential educational institutions. No vacation classes of any kind should be conducted in the district. Heads of educational institutions should take steps to make up for the study time lost due to holidays.
