KASARAGOD: More than five lakh first-time voters will reach the polling booths on Friday to cast their vote in the LS polls. A good share among the youngsters would be thrilled with thoughts about the voting experience but it is also vital for them to have a basic know-how into the EVM working format.
The voter should follow the queue in the polling booth
The polling officer will check the name in the voter list and the identity document produced by the voter
First Polling Officer will ink the voter's left index finger and then issue the slip. The voter needs to sign in the form.
The polling officer will accept the slip and check the voter's finger ink mark.
When the voter reaches the compartment, the third polling officer will prepare the ballot unit for voting. A red light will be illuminated.
Then the voter presses the blue button on the EVM for the candidate of interest. Then the red light next to the candidate's name will light up. Immediately the VVPAT machine prints the ballot slip containing the serial number, name and symbol of the selected candidate and displays it for seven seconds.
A beep sound from the control unit ensures that the vote has been registered. If you do not see the ballot slip or do not hear the beep sound at the VVPAT, contact the Presiding Officer. After voting, the printed slip will then be secured in the VVPAT machine.
