MUMBAI: Nikos Karelis scored a brace for Mumbai City FC to beat Kerala Blasters 4-2 in the ISL football match on Sunday. Nathan Rodrigues and Lallianzuala Chhangte also added to Mumbai’s tally meanwhile Jesus Jimenez and Kwame Peprah scored for Blasters.
Mumbai Football Arena erupted when Karelis scored in the ninth minute of the match off a pass from Lallianzuala Chhangte. Kwame Peprah of Blasters saw the first yellow card in the eighth minute. In the 25th minute, Mumbai's midfielder Yoel Van Neef also got his booking.
Karelis scored the second goal from the penalty in the 55th minute. In a swift response, Jimenez opened the scoring for the Blasters with a penalty in the 57th minute. Meanwhile, Kwame Peprah scored in the 71st minute to tie the game 2-2. However, Peprah celebrated by taking off his jersey unaware of his former yellow card. He was thus given a marching order.
Soon, Nathan Rodrigues scored in the 75th minute and Chhangte settled the game for Mumbai with a 90th minute penalty.
