THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city of Kerala is now soaked in the strong monsoon rains that have been continuing unabated for the last 24 hours. And now, the IMD has much more to offer to the citizens to practice caution. As per reports, extreme rainfall is heading towards Kerala in the coming days. In the wake of this prediction, an orange alert has been announced in five districts and a yellow alert in eight districts.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the Kasaragod district during the next three hours with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Kannur districts are likely to experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers. The Meteorological Department warns that light rain may occur at isolated places in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
