Cyclonic storm in Thrissur; heavy rains and winds uproot trees causing widespread damage

THRISSUR: Heavy damage due to cyclonic storm in Thrissur. There was widespread crop damage in Koplipadam and Kodunga in Thrissur from the heavy rains and strong winds caused by the storm. Coconut trees and trees got uprooted by the strong wind. Electricity was also disconnected in many areas because of this.

Meanwhile, there is a chance of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the state today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunder at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts in the next three hours and wind gusting up to 40 kmph.
