THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) have recently accredited Puthukode Family Health Center in Palakkad and the Muppainad Family Health Center in Wayanad.
The Puthukode Family Health Center received a score of 94.97%, while the Muppainad Family Health Center excelled with a score of 96.68%. With these additions, a total of 189 hospitals across the state are now accredited by NQAS, which includes 82 hospitals that have achieved re-accreditation. The accredited facilities comprise five district hospitals, four taluk hospitals, 11 community health centers, 41 urban primary health centers and 128 family health centers.
NQAS evaluates hospitals against approximately 6,500 checkpoints across eight categories to ensure they meet national quality standards. Accreditation is valid for three years, after which hospitals undergo re-evaluation by a national-level team, with annual assessments conducted at the state level.
Accredited primary health centers (PHCs) will receive an annual incentive of ₹2 lakh, while other hospitals will be awarded ₹10,000 per bed each year. This financial support is aimed at further enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the state.
