THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSEB announced that the construction work of the Udupi-Kasaragod 400 kV double circuit line is nearing completion. This is part of the project being implemented to ensure electricity availability in the northern districts of Kerala. KSEB's response came after Kerala Kaumudi published the news the other day.

The right-of-way issues are completely resolved. 101 towers have been installed. Line laying work has also been completed for about 8 km. The Kasaragod 400/220 kV GIS substation, part of this project, has also been completed. The state cabinet also announced a special package to ensure high compensation for those who will lose land as part of the line construction.

The procedural hurdles on the Karnataka side are currently hampering the completion of the line. Out of the 180 tower locations in the Karnataka region, only 60 have been completed. The announcement also states that significant progress was achieved solely due to the willpower of the Kerala government and KSEB.
