Youth attempts suicide in police station

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth attempted suicide at the Nedumangad police station. The incident happened Wednesday morning at 6 am. Manu (29) of Muthamkonam in Nedumangad attempted suicide in the ventilation of the toilet using the mundu he was wearing. He committed the act when he was brought to the station after taken into custody.

Manu, who entered the toilet was not seen out even after a long time. The police knocked on the door but was locked from inside. He was found hanging when the police broke opened the door. They immediately cut the knot and saved him. He was first taken to Nedumangad district hospital and then to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

The police took him into custody for barging into the house of his neighbour, a woman. The locals came rushing after hearing the screams of the woman. He attempted suicide when the police were questioning him.
