THRISSUR: Former minister and CPI leader V S Sunil Kumar said that there was a lapse from the side of the police in disrupting the Thrissur Pooram. He blamed inefficiency by the police for the problems, that hampered the event. However, he said that he does not know whether ADGP Ajith Kumar has any role in this issue. Nilambur MLA P V Anwar had alleged on Facebook that it was Ajith Kumar who had paved the way for Suresh Gopi after disrupting Thrissur Pooram. Sunil Kumar responded to the media now on this allegation.
‘I had then accused the police for their lapse. However, I had no clear information of ADGP Ajith Kumar’s role. I have no evidence except what Anwar said. It is true that there was a clear political conspiracy behind disrupting Thrissur Pooram.
There has been no complaint on the conduct of the pakal pooram. However, when we add the fact that there was a dramatic stand to stop the night fair, to turn off the lights, and to say that there will be no fireworks and the BJP candidate, who did not participate in any of the functions, appearing with the RSS leaders, then everyone will understand the political conspiracy,’ said Sunil Kumar.
This was followed by a propaganda that it was the government who messed up Pooram and the LDF was behind it. The RSS leaders and the BJP candidate who were present there tried to raise public sentiment against the LDF candidate. Messing up pooram was not a coincidence. VS Sunil Kumar said, ‘Many people, including him were held responsible for disrupting pooram.’
Meantime, the post shared by P V Anwar on messing up pooram was widely discussed. The post said, ‘Who paved the way for BJP after messing up Thrissur Pooram.’ It was a post that said ADGP Ajith Kumar was behind the disruption of Thrissur Pooram. Do you still think that ACP Ankit Ashok, a junior would get involved in such a controversy on his own accord,’ said the post.
