KOTTAYAM: Considering the surge in passenger traffic between Mangalore and Kerala, a new train service has been initiated on this route to alleviate weekend congestion. The train operating on the Kottayam - Mangalore route will offer a total of seven services.
The inaugural journey departed from Mangalore on Saturday morning, April 20, arriving at Kottayam at 7:30 pm. Subsequently, it departs from Kottayam at 9:45 pm, returning to Mangalore at 6:55 am on Sunday.

The train service will operate on April 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25 and June 1, comprising a total of seven services. Stops include Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shornur Junction, Thrissur and Ernakulam Town stations.
Currently, there are primarily three night trains from Kerala to Mangalore, namely Maveli Express, Mangalore Express and Malabar Express. Tickets for these trains, especially during weekends, are in high demand. The newly introduced service from Kottayam over the weekends aims to provide relief to passengers.
