Training in scorching heat; Malayali police official dies of sunstroke in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A Malayali police officer died of sunstroke in Delhi. The dead is K Binesh (50) of Vadakara in Kozhikode, living in Uttam Nagar Hastsal. He was working as an assistant sub-inspector in Delhi Police. Binesh suffered sunstroke while undergoing special training at the Wazirabad Police Training Centre.

Binesh, who collapsed due to the extreme heat, was first taken to the nearby Subham Hospital. He was shifted to Paschim Vihar Balaji Hospital after his health deteriorated but his life could not be saved. His body will be brought home today.

There were 12 Malayalees including Binesh in the 1400-member police team for training at the Wazirabad Police Training Centre. Due to extreme heat, the highest temperature reached 49.9 degrees Celsius in Delhi, which was on red alert. Places like Mungeshpur and Narela in Delhi recorded a high temperature of 49.9 degrees yesterday.
