Rs 272 for one litre petrol, Rs 202 for kerosene, inflation surges in Pakistan; rulers in fear of people taking over power

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has sharply increased the prices of petrol and diesel again. The price of petrol was increased by Rs 22 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs 17 since last night. With this, the price of a litre of petrol is Rs 272. 280 and Rs 280 per litre for high-speed diesel. Along with this, the price of kerosene also increased significantly. It costs 202 rupees per litre. Light diesel is slightly less expensive Rs 196 per litre. Already there is a significant increase in the price of gas. It is also reported that fuel prices may increase further.

Pakistan, which is struggling in economic crisis, has raised fuel prices to get loans from the IMF. The IMF had earlier warned Pakistan that the loan would be granted only if conditions were met. Pakistan was ready to comply with the terms when it was more and more convinced that the country would suffer the fate of Sri Lanka without money even for daily expenses.

The increase in fuel prices has made people's lives miserable. There is already a huge price hike in Pakistan. With the introduction of revised fuel prices, it has reached an alarming level. In many places even essential items are not available. There are also concerns that price hikes may add to inflation.

Financial experts have come forward with the question that how they will repay if they get the IMF loan. The concerned authorities have not yet answered this. Meanwhile, people have protested in the streets in some places against the price hike. The government is afraid that this may become organized and turn into a massive protest like in Sri Lanka.
