Salary in installments in KSRTC: Labour unions move another step closer to strike

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC employees is mulling to go on strike against payment of salary in installments. BMS and TDF's talks with Minister Antony Raju yesterday also failed. Apart from salary issue, the labour unions also demanded the withdrawal of reforms including single duty. However, the minister stated the current reform measures cannot be withdrawn and the employees should cooperate and the talks ended abruptly.

With the minister stating that in the current economic situation, there is no other option but to pay the salary in installments, the employees is likely to move on intense strike measures. The KST Employees Sangh (BMS) has sought the cooperation of various labour organizations to form a common front. A final decision will be taken after consultation. BMS and TDF protested against calling the organizations separately for discussion. Earlier, the minister held a separate discussion with CITU. BMS General Secretary GK Ajith, General Secretary S Ajayakumar, Pradeep C Nair, TDF State President D Ajayakumar, RL Rajeev and Gladstone participated in the discussion. Government assistance has not been issued to pay the remaining salary for February. The government needs to allocate Rs 70 crore as aid for January and February.
