LAHORE: The Islamabad police have moved to re-arrest Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party chairman. PTI activists once again blocked the police team that came in front of Lahore's Zaman Park residence to arrest Imran Khan, leading to clashes.

After the previous attempt to arrest Imran Khan as per the court order in the corruption case failed, the police team arrived in armored vehicles. But the crowd of supporters gathered in front of Imran Khan's residence stopped the police team and started pelting stones, which led to the conflict. When the PTI workers became violent, the police used water cannons and lathi-charged them. Imran Khan released a video message after the dramatic scenes unfolded outside his residence. In a video, Imran Khan appealed to continue the fight even if the Shehbaz Sharif government imprisons or kills him.

The Toshakhana corruption case against Imran is that he earned crores by selling valuables received as gifts during his foreign visits while he was the Prime Minister and hid it in his income tax returns. Officials revealed that they are trying to arrest Imran Khan as per the court order in the same case. But the police attempt failed again when the PTI workers formed a security cordon in front of Imran Khan's residence.

At the same time, on March 5, after the police officers reached Imran Khan's residence to arrest him, untoward incidents were reported. The incidents started when the Islamabad police arrived at Imran Khan's residence in Zaman Park in Lahore with an arrest warrant at around 1 pm Indian time. The Islamabad police were unable to arrest Imran Khan due to the strong resistance of the PTI activists.
