Disciplinary action: Five KSRTC employees suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC has suspended 5 employees including two drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol and a conductor who gave a speech criticizing CMD Biju Prabhakar.

Driver AR Jayaraj of Mananthavadi unit and Aji Unnikrishnan of Sultan Bathery were suspended for driving the bus under the influence of alcohol. On March 20, while operating the Coimbatore-Mananthavadi service, the bus driven by Jayaraj reversed and hit a Tamil Nadu Corporation bus which was stopped at a signal at Gandhipuram. When the passengers said that the driver was drunk, he got off the bus and ran away. The service was completed by assigning another driver from Sulthan Bathery.

It was found that the driver Aji Unnikrishnan was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol while operating the Sulthan Bathery-Thiruvananthapuram service on March 19.

S. Mariappan, a driver of Thiruvananthapuram city depot, was suspended for rash driving and injuring 3 bike passengers on March 1.

Kottayam Depot Conductor Viju K Nair was suspended after he made a speech criticizing CMD Biju Prabhakaranan and officials and circulated it through WhatsApp.

Conductor KA Kunhimuhammed of Thrissur Depot has been suspended for issuing tickets by charging money from passengers and not giving the balance amount properly.
